Week 1 has just wrapped up and it is now time for Amp's Weekly Awards!
Play of the Week:
Tampa vs. Memphis: Gourgeist used Trick. At the time of this play it seemed like a kind of throw away gamble to get to the next play. Instead this turned out to be the single best play of the week and clinched the Typhlosion's victory. Gourgeist used Trick to swap it's Choice Scarf for Hydreigon's Life Orb. The result was felt much later in the match when Gourgeist came out again and this time baited the dragon into locking itself into Dark Pulse. This time the Choice Sharf effectively crippled Hydreigon and Tampa was able to set-up to secure the win.
Clutch Performer:
Cleveland's Terrakion. Sure Terrakion wasn't the MVP of it's match but it changed the tide of this battle none the less. Cleveland was down 6-3 and 5-2 once this lifesaver hit the field. By the time he was KO'd the match was brought right back into reach, allowing Cleveland the stunning come from behind victory.
MVP of the Week:
Baltimore's Porygon-Z. If any one Pokemon was the sole reason for their team winning this week it would have to be Porygon-Z. Not only was it a master at supporting the Honchkrows with Trick Room, but also took down a Mega Gardevoir through some lucky Ice Beam freezing. In fact two of Baltimore's biggest threats were eliminated thanks to Porygon-Z getting the freeze at just the right time.
